Elordi revealed that it all started with a challenge from the film's makeup artist, Siãn Miller. She suggested that, if Daniel Day-Lewis were playing Heathcliff, he would arrive on set with scars. Elordi, in a moment of method acting enthusiasm, declared, "I'm going to maim myself to prove I'm Heathcliff!"
And so, a daring weekend plan was set in motion. Little did he know, disaster was waiting in the wings.
"That night, I went home to a house with a steam shower. As I leaned back to clean my feet, my back made contact with the steam knob, and I was left screaming in pain. It was a second-degree burn," Elordi recalled.
Emerald Fennell, the director, received a text that read, "Jacob's in the hospital." Initially fearing a car accident, Fennell was relieved to hear it was a steam-related injury. "In the spirit of Daniel Day-Lewis," she joked.
But Elordi's response was a twist: "It was actual Daniel Day-Lewis. In the shower."
Despite the painful incident, Elordi recovered and returned to filming.
